India’s commitment is fruitful: MEA

The State Council (MFA) stated that India’s participation in the 47th G7 meeting was “fruitful”.

MEA's additional secretary (economic relations) P. Harish said in a special briefing: "I don't hesitate to say that India's commitment to G7 and invited countries is worthwhile.

This is Prime Minister Modi's second G7 summit after Biarritz in France in 2019. "This is also the first time India has participated at the ministerial and working levels, and continues to serve as the host country at the working level.

Based on Prime Minister Modi’s commitment, Harish stated that his attendance at the summit is based on three pillars: global health vaccines and Covid-19 recovery, environment and climate change, and an open society and an open economy.

Due to the devastating effects of the pandemic in the past 18 months, the theme chosen by the UK for this year's summit is "Rebuild Better."
