YELLOW FUNGUS:
India is still coming to grips with what is called Black
Fungus or white fungus that causes the deadly infection called Mucormycosis;
and along comes more news of a patient in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad being
detected to have been afflicted with Yellow Fungus
Origin of
yellow fungus:
This is a type of fungi that is the cause of superficial and deep mycoses that
affect pets as well as captive and wild animals – especially reptiles.
What is yellow
fungus?
Unlike the two other infections,
could be much scarier because of the manner in which it affects the body's
internal organs.
Unlike the two other
infections, yellow fungus starts off internally, causes pus leakage, slow
healing of wounds, and, in serious cases, can also cause devastating symptoms
such as organ failure and acute necrosis.
How is Yellow Fungus caused:
Lack of hygiene is the most common
factor. The presence of moisture is another.
The only treatment for Yellow Fungus is Amphotericin B injection,
which is a broad spectrum antifungal.
Symptoms
of Yellow fungus:
·
Lethargy
·
Weight loss
·
Low appetite, or no appetite at all.
·
Leakage of pus from the wound.
·
Slow down the healing process of wounds
·
Sunken eyes and organ failure leading to acute necrosis
