YELLOW FUNGUS:




India is still coming to grips with what is called Black Fungus or white fungus that causes the deadly infection called Mucormycosis; and along comes more news of a patient in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad being detected to have been afflicted with Yellow Fungus


Origin of yellow fungus:

This is a type of fungi that is the cause of superficial and deep mycoses that affect pets as well as captive and wild animals – especially reptiles.


What is yellow fungus?


Unlike the two other infections, could be much scarier because of the manner in which it affects the body's internal organs.

Unlike the two other infections, yellow fungus starts off internally, causes pus leakage, slow healing of wounds, and, in serious cases, can also cause devastating symptoms such as organ failure and acute necrosis.




How is Yellow Fungus caused:



Lack of hygiene is the most common factor. The presence of moisture is another.

 



 Treatment of Yellow Fungus

The only treatment for Yellow Fungus is Amphotericin B injection, which is a broad spectrum antifungal.





Symptoms of Yellow fungus:


·         Lethargy

·         Weight loss

·         Low appetite, or no appetite at all.

·         Leakage of pus from the wound.

·         Slow down the healing process of wounds

·         Sunken eyes and organ failure leading to acute necrosis
