Tokyo Olympics: Neeraj Chopra makes history and awards India gold at the Olympic Games after 13 years

He threw the javelin well beyond his qualifying record. This is India's first medal in the javelin throw. In addition, it is India's first medal in athletics. 

 Earned gold after 13 years: This is India's first Olympic gold medal in 13 years. Before Neeraj Chopra, Abhinav Bindra won the gold medal in shooting at the Beijing Olympics. This is India's second gold medal in the Olympics. , India has won 8 gold medals in ice hockey.
