Jeff Bezos' company auctioned off a seat in its first manned space mission for $28 million

Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin has found the first person to send the billionaire tycoon into space and return to the company for its first manned space flight next month. Bezos, his brother Mark, the winner of the tender and others will fly on the new Shepherd Rocket System, which will allow them to enjoy a few minutes of microgravity in space before bringing them back to Earth. The winning bid amount is 28 million U.S. dollars (approximately 205 million rupees), but the identity of the winning bidder has been kept confidential.

The auction was held on Saturday, and within four minutes, the bid exceeded US$20 million (approximately 1.5 billion rupees). The tender ends seven minutes after the start. The company stated that the $28 million won in the bid will be donated to Blue Origin's Foundation "Future Club" to help inspire future generations to create the future of space life.

Blue Origin said in a statement that the names of the auction winners will be announced in the next few weeks after some formalities have been completed. Amazon CEO and space enthusiast Bezos founded Blue Origin in 2000 to bring humans into space. The company’s statement was accompanied by a video detailing the auction process.
